I have to say, there is nothing better for weight loss that a little friendly competition.
Denise and I have been dieting (I need to, she does not). But being best friends means we tend to be a bit competitive. So today, when I said, “Man, I really think I’m going to buy a cookie,” and she replied, “I’ve been so good lately – I’ve only had 300 calories in the last 2 days,” the longing for a cookie immediately fled the premises. Instead I bought a fat free yogurt and some GrapeNuts to stir into it. Yum.
Now, granted I was also a bit smug because I am in no way a “300 calories in 2 days” kind of chick. I tend to lean toward the Points approach, and usually eat stuff that’s really good for me (except over the holidays and now I’m paying for my sins). So realizing that one of us (not Denise) is getting all her calcium and veggies and Omega-3’s still has me feeling superior, even if I was craving a cookie for a minute there.
PS And because there is absolutely NOTHING less interesting than listening to some psycho-chick discuss her caloric intake, here’s a rant… Can anyone tell me WHY it is that when it snows, people forget that a once 3-lane road existed a mere 12 hours earlier so they change said 3-lane road into a 1 – sometimes 2- lane road? What is UP with that?? Do we all really need painted lines to tell us that there is easily room for 3 cars to drive abreast?
