My dad and I have never been close.  After he and my mom split up when I was about 7, mom, sis and I moved away and he didn’t really make much effort to see us or contact us at all, let alone pay any kind of child support.  But we gals made it through [...]

Yesterday was an exercise in futility.  Trying to clear your good name with the courts is just not an easy task – we’re still not done.  Apparently the creep stole my husband’s identity in 2006 and when the records bureau went to “fix” it, somehow, SOMEHOW, instead of taking the other guys stuff OFF hubby’s [...]

Ranty

I’m feeling a bit rant-y today, so I will keep this short.  I’m not a big fan of the police.  It’s not a secret and truth be known, I’m rather outspoken about this “me-ism.”
Here’s the thing.  If they would “Serve and Protect” instead of “Harass and Punish,” I might be inclined to be more respectful.  [...]

I read a bumper sticker this morning that gave me pause, ”The Best Things In Life Aren’t Things.”
I have to say, I agree with the sentiment 110%, but what made me do a double-take is the fact that this sticker was adhered to the back of a Lexus.  Ahem.  How can you put a sticker like that on the [...]

Friday, while I was mowing, I had an epiphany: if I died on Tuesday, I would be danged angry for showing up to a job I hate the Monday before.  So, I’ve finally, FINALLY, made up my mind to leave my job.  I even printed up a letter of resignation.  And all I can think [...]

Naked Wrist

My recently-purchased watch died yesterday.  The battery just up and quit, and this isn’t something that doesn’t happen to me a lot.  Something about my chemical make-up just sucks the life out of watches – go figure.
In any case, I’m pondering whether I will even bother to replace the battery or simply go watchless for [...]

I was just thinking, as I was crocheting, about the time when I was about 6 years old and my grandma came to my house with a paper bag nearly filled with Barbie doll clothes she had sewn for my sister and me.  Mostly made from scraps and odds’n’ends, but so perfectly lavish to a [...]

Some Enchanted Evening

My plan for this evening is to drive home, stir up some creamy risotto with a few semi-crunchy stir-fried veggies and then head outside to sit under the maple tree and watch the chooks while I crochet.
It really doesn’t get any better than that.

A bit about changing my attitude…
I’ve been doing lots of reassessing my situation lately, what I want/need out of life and what I have to do to get those things.  Crazy things my grandmas used to say keep popping around in my head, like “waste not, want not” and something about a stitch in time…  [...]

Plan B

I apologize, but I’m feeling very complainy this week.  Surely it’s hormonal and not just a mood.  *sigh*
Anyway, the distance from spouse is still there, and was felt very sharply last night, though truth be told, I feel things more sharply when I’m already feeling very sorry for myself.  It’s just that he seems to [...]
